Clear Cut

Another tree went down.
The third in less than a year,
once more
altering my view.
In anticipation of its remove,
me, all grief,
a landscape
cannot withstand
so much change
so hurriedly.
It seems unreasonable
to pull down
what has stood for decades
and expect the sky
to remain sky,
to blue and blacken without
the familiar frame
of branches.
Yet, today,
tree now fully gone,
morning still arrived
with birds, sun, and sapphire,
revealing durable vantages,
even when offered
with far less adornment.
